About Gouramis

Gouramis are a diverse group of freshwater fish known for their labyrinth organ, which allows them to breathe atmospheric oxygen. Originating from Asia, they exhibit a wide range of colors and patterns, from the iridescent blues and reds of the Blue Flame Gourami to the intricate patterns of the Pearl Gourami.

Characteristics of the Blue Flame Paradise Gourami

Blue Flame Paradise Gouramis (Trichogaster trichopterus) boast striking coloration that ranges from deep blue to fiery red, accentuated by delicate patterns across their bodies. With a labyrinth organ, they can breathe from the water’s surface, making them adaptable to various aquatic conditions.

Care & Feeding

Maintaining optimal conditions is crucial for the well-being of Blue Flame Paradise Gouramis. Keep them in a spacious tank with plenty of plants and hiding spots. Maintain water temperatures between 72-82°F (22-28°C) and a pH level of 6.0-7.5 for ideal health.

These omnivorous beauties thrive on a diverse diet including high-quality flakes, pellets, and occasional treats like brine shrimp or bloodworms. Ensure regular feeding and monitor water quality to prevent health issues.

Compatibility

Known for their peaceful temperament, Blue Flame Paradise Gouramis are best suited for community tanks with similarly calm species. They coexist harmoniously with tetras, rasboras, and Corydoras catfish. Avoid pairing them with aggressive or fin-nipping fish to prevent stress.
