Characteristics of the Dwarf Chili Rasbora

These fish are known for their vibrant red coloration, which intensifies when they are kept in a well-maintained aquarium with appropriate lighting and water conditions. They prefer a planted tank with plenty of hiding spots, as they are naturally shy and like to have places to retreat to.

They are peaceful, social creatures that thrive in a community tank. Their small size, reaching only about 1 inch in length, makes them an ideal choice for smaller aquariums or nano tanks.

The dwarf chili rasbora is a schooling fish, so it is best to keep them in groups of at least six to eight individuals. This will help them feel more secure and reduce any stress they may experience. They are relatively easy to care for and can adapt to a wide range of water parameters, although they prefer slightly acidic water with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0.

Some suitable tankmates include other small rasbora species like Boraras brigittae or Boraras maculatus. Small tetras such as Neon Tetras, Ember Tetras, or Green Neon Tetras are also good tank mates. They aslo cohabitate well with Shrimp species such as Cherry Shrimp or Crystal Red Shrimp.
