Hello Fishtery family! I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the new owner of Fishtery, your trusted local fish store here in Central Virginia. Stepping into this role has been nothing short of electric — there’s a kind of energy in the store that I can’t quite explain. It’s more than the bubbling tanks or the colorful schools of fish; it’s something alive in the community that gathers here, and I’m committed to not only preserving that spark, but helping it grow. Fishtery has been a hub, a meeting place, and a resource for aquarists of all levels. And now, it’s entering a new era — one where your voice matters more than ever.

To kick off this next chapter, I’d love to invite you to Fishtery’s Forthcoming – Community Visioning, a special event happening at the store at 2pm on October 19th, 2025. This isn’t just a meet-and-greet or a sales day — it’s a real conversation about the future of Fishtery. Whether you’ve been reef-keeping for decades or are just dreaming about your first betta, your perspective will help shape how we grow. We’ll be opening up the floor to your ideas on everything from stock selection and aquascaping styles, to the store layout, education opportunities, and how we can all support more sustainable fishkeeping practices.

One of the biggest goals I have as the new owner is to make sure Fishtery stays deeply rooted in the community. That means listening — truly listening — to what inspires you, what you want to see more of, and how we can make this place feel even more like your own. We’ll honor the foundation built by Fishtery’s original vision, while also exploring bold new possibilities — guided by your input. The store’s future should reflect the passions, creativity, and curiosity of the people who make up this incredible local fishkeeping family.
